Mary Waldrop
Instructor and Coach

Growing up Mary spent her summers at the swimming pool. She swam on various summer swim teams for 13 years, including 3 years on the Briar Chapel team in Chapel Hill. She also swam for two years on her high school team at Northwood High School in Pittsboro, NC. Her favorite strokes are freestyle and backstroke, but she says sometimes she likes to sprinkle some butterfly in there.

Mary had been coaching, teaching and lifeguarding for four years before joining the BDA team in the Spring of 2019. She loves coaching and teaching because she loves to see kids discover their potential! Working with children is one of her favorite activities. She feels discovering and perfectings skills in and out of the pool is incredibly rewarding for everyone involved. She enjoys being part of that process and guiding students towards success.

Mary is currently a senior at UNC Chapel Hill and is majoring in Biology. She plays french horn in  UNC Marching Band and works as an undergraduate volunteer in the UNC Hospital system. This fall she will be applying for medical school. As a fun fact about herself, Mary shared she has a dog, bird and three fish! Her favorite hobby is baking.... she once made a batch of 100 cream puffs for her dad's birthday!

Mary can't wait to see you on the pool deck!
